Alfred Kayiranga
My name is Alfred Kayiranga. I had a mother, a father, three brothers and sisters and we lived with my grandparents of my father’s side. I was born in 1980, so during the genocide in 1994, I was fourteen years old. My sister and I were able to hide and the genocide perpetrators killed my parents and my brothers and other sisters. I was left an orphan at just the age of fourteen. I was able to live with my only sister, Angelique Mukayiranga. She was just a little girl then. I was the head of the house, with an incredible difficult life, trying to be an adult. I had to work and I wasn’t able to finish secondary school until 2006. Now while working and searching for better jobs, I hope to go to university to learn and bring myself and other orphans around me out of poverty. I have confidence in God that these things will happen.
Thanking you,
Alfred
