Who We Are

Discover Worlds is a student-run, international non-profit organization that promotes social entrepreneurship in high schools around the world. Our Mission

Discover Worlds seeks to end global issues by motivating and empowering youth to use their talents to raise awareness and take action as social entrepreneurs.

We know that only through education comes the power to make a difference, so we have made it Discover Worlds’ mission to empower students around the world to make a difference that matters to them. By inculcating compassion and global understanding in future generations, Discover Worlds supplies tomorrow’s leaders with the knowledge, motivation, and leadership to become today’s leaders.

Discover Worlds identifies passionate leaders in high schools and universities all over the world and gives them the resources and skills they need to raise awareness and solve the problems in their own community. Working one-on-one with these students, Discover Worlds helps these leaders make a sustainable difference in their communities.

What We’re Doing – Taking Action & Raising Awareness

Our work is grouped into two distinct functions: raising awareness and taking action.

Raising Awareness

Discover Worlds students present to schools and communities around the world to raise awareness on the problems they see.  Examples include:

• High school students in Rwanda raising awareness in villages of HIV/AIDs, nutrition, etc through presenting
• Chapters in the U.S. raising awareness on global issues such as extreme poverty in sub-Saharan Africa, human trafficking, genocide, and the effects of global warming through presenting, sports programs and
• Inner city youth speaking on gang violence
• Students working with at-risk middle school girls on proper nutrition, health, academics, etc through a monthly magazine and presentations

Taking Action

Just as taking action is an essential component of social entrepreneurship, it is a core element of Discover Worlds. Focusing  specifically on the issue of poverty, everything Discover Worlds pursues is aimed at eradicating poverty. With our two largest programs, the Sister School Program and the University Scholarship Program, DW focuses on empowering and connecting students across borders to foster student social entrepreneurs around the world.

Innovation is also a core emphasis of our organization and a new Discover Worlds venture called ChangEducate seeks to inform, connect, and empower more students than ever before by institutionalizing poverty awareness into US secondary education. This venture is still in the process of being developed and should be accomplished by the end of this year.

Where We’re Located

Discover Worlds chapters are found in high schools and universities from coast to coast in the United States as well as in India and Rwanda.
